Funding has been allocated this year to commence initial surveying and options analysis to the upgrade.

Below are some dot points provided by TMR on the status of the project.

• The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) acknowledges the impact on the intersection of Beaudesert–Beenleigh Road and Bannockburn Road, Bannockburn for a growing population in this area of South East Queensland, and increased traffic volume resulting from Woolworths and surrounding developments.

• TMR is committed to ensuring the safety and efficiency of the intersection of Belivah Road, Bannockburn Road and Beaudesert–Beenleigh Road at Bannockburn, and has considered the upgrade of this intersection and the installation of traffic signals. TMR's South Coast Region (SCR) nominated the intersection under the Safer Roads Sooner (SRS) program 2022 round for safety funding to install traffic signals. Unfortunately, it was not successful due to competing priorities against other safety projects in the State.

• However, SCR has secured funding to commence planning for the intersection in the 2023–24 financial year. This will include seeking further funding opportunities to deliver the project and will build on the work completed for the 2022 SRS nomination. The approach and scope of the upgrade will be fully defined once planning for the project has commenced.

• TMR will continue to monitor the operation of the intersection of Beaudesert–Beenleigh Road and Bannockburn Road to ensure the safety of all road users.
