Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail

Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail Main Image

The Australian and Queensland government have contributed funding to ensure the growing areas of Brisbane, Logan and Gold Coast are connected with more frequent and reliable train services.

The rail line between Kuraby and Beenleigh is a key capacity bottleneck on the network, where trains share a single track in each direction. During peak periods, all-stop Beenleigh trains need to be held to one side to allow Gold Coast express trains to pass through.

The Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail project will unlock additional train services to address the high growth in travel demand between Brisbane and the Gold Coast and is a key investment to support the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The number of tracks will be increased from two to four between Kuraby and Beenleigh which doubles the capacity of the rail line and reduces waiting times at stations.

The project will also make it easier for customers to access high frequency rail services through station accessibility upgrades and improved walking and cycling connections and improves safety and reduces traffic congestion for local communities through level crossing removals.
